Growth Through Speaking – Filip Reineby — 15 Comments

  1. Thank you very much for sharing your experience. I am from Central Africa – Cameroon, member of the Speak Clear Association of Cameroon(SCAC). I have suffered lots of teasing and bulling while at school and school was quite and unsettling place for me. It helps me feel better when I learn of my similar stories. You are such an amazing person. Congrats for your nominated as one of Swedenโ€™s top young entrepreneurs of 2019 and for the most you are doing to help people conquer their stuttering. Keep the good work.

  2. Filip- Your experience was inspiring and relatable to me in different ways. How did you use this traumatic event to bring about courage and strength, rather than let it become a hindrance in your progress as a person? Do you think that anyone could have this type of success with the correct mindset? I am interested in your six self-learned speaking techniques and six sub-techniques that you utilize to help control your stutter. I would be curious to know more about these tools and how long it took you to experience success with them. Have you been to a speech-language pathologist in the past, and if so, what was your experience like? Thank you for sharing!

    • Thank you for your comment!

Yes i think anyone can rise from/with traumatic event, it requires mental strength but with training and determination anyone can do it ๐Ÿ™‚

I have learned these techniques myself through years of practice and by using them in my role as a public speaker – with weekly training and public speaking challenges i would say it took about 2-3 years before they became automatic ๐Ÿ™‚

Today i train stutterers and non stutterers in these techniques and i combine them with rhetorical knowledge since they do not only reduce stutter but also improve ones public speaking skills.

  3. Filip – I very much enjoyed your video and your message. Not one of can allow ONE Moment in time to define us or limit us. There will be countless other thousands of moments that you will experience, and it may turn out that one of those, or a combination of future moments, will indeed impact your life. You seem already well prepared to not let little things – moments – define you.

Yes, we can all grow through speaking. It’s when we give in and choose silence, that’s where growth is stunted. We have the power to make decisions about these thousands of moments will impact our life.

Thank you so much for sharing,

    Pam

  4. Hi Filip,

Your story is extremely inspiring, even to one who does not have stutter. Although that experience was extremely hard on your 14-year-old self, you have grown tremendously and have even made a living off of speaking. You are a prime example of “Growth Through Speaking!”

Thank you for sharing, and continue to share your story to inspire others.

  5. Hi Filip!
After listening to your story, I have to admit, you are more brave than I could ever be. Being able to face your fears of public speaking and to then become a public speajer as a career, is amazing. I was wondering how hard it is for your to control you stutter when you give speeches and how much it takes out of you physically?

    Thank you so much!
    Alyssa

    • Any bravery i may have has come to me through practice and challenging myself and that is something anyone who stutters can do! I am not unique!

Please contact me on info@filipreineby.se I would like to share with you my thoughts on how your bravery is within your grasp.

It Does require concentration, but not so much anymore since i have Done public speaking so much that the techniques i have is now more or less activated automatic ๐Ÿ™‚ but agian to reach that point has taken 2-3 years – but anyone can do it!

  6. Thank you for sharing your inspiring story! It was interesting to hear how one negative experience can stick with you throughout your entire life. How did you overcome the insecurity after that experience? And how do you react now to those who are not as accepting of your disfluencies?
I am a graduate student studying speech-language pathology and would love to know how to better help children and adults with stutter. Have you ever received any speech therapy? If so, what helped you and what would you recommend to any SLPs? I am also interested in knowing more about your self-learned techniques/sub-techniques. Thanks again!

    • I never really overcame it, i just decided to not let the act of a bully affect my life- which is easier Said than Done but it really came down to that thought (to not let one person decide my faith)

Actually since i as a public speaker opened up about my stutter NO one has been negative, i was named of one Swedens role models of the year due to the fact that i as a public speaker stutter ๐Ÿ™‚

In my experience, when you open up about your flaws noone can use them against you – people instead become inspired.

I have not recieved any speech therapy i have only experimented with my own voice and found 6-12 self learned speaking techniques that i now teach to stutterers and non stutterers since the techniques both reduce stutterers (for me and the stutterers i have trained) and helps people become better public speakers.

Since the techniques are quite many i reccomend you to email me on info@filipreineby.se were i can give you a thourough answer ๐Ÿ™‚

  8. Your video was very inspirational, and shows the immense amount of perseverance you exhibited through this situation. Traumatic experiences often shape the way we view our own speech. The fact that you didn’t let this moment and many similar moments determine the trajectory of your life is amazing.
