Handouts about PWS — 6 Comments

  1. I agree with my colleagues’ suggestions. I also usually recommend previously mentioned websites. I would like to add that the Stuttering Foundation poster “Famous people who stutter”, occurs in the Polish version as well (https://www.stutteringhelp.org/polish-translations). Documentaries gathered on the website: http://www.konferencja-zpm.edu.pl can be very supportive for Polish-speaking people who stutter. Some of them are English translations, while others are original Polish materials. I especially recommend the movie prepared for the ISAD 2017 as an excellent resource. It is registered material from the open discussion panel entitled “Changing attitudes towards stuttering!”. The panelists were people who stutter themselves and therapists (SLPs or psychologists) and/or self-help movement leaders (http://www.konferencja-zpm.edu.pl/pl/multimedia-2/). Besides, there are publications, such as, “Stuttering: Inspiring stories and professional wisdom” (StutterTalk), “Living with stuttering” (Populore), “Advice to those who stutter” (Stuttering Foundation) could be quite helpful. For Polish readers, I recommend the Polish translation of the Stuttering Foundation book: “Jąkanie eksperci radzą” and original Polish publications with stories of Polish PWS: “Życie z zacięciem. Integralny przewodnik po jąkaniu” (Wydawnictwo Edukacyjne).

  2. You might also consider collecting digital sources since a lot of people like to watch videos and documentaries as well. If this is something you are interested in, I can list some digital resources here.
