  1. Thanks for your question! However, I must say…instead of a response, all I can think of is questions. What is their age, past therapy experiences, involvement in the support community, attitudes and emotions about their stuttering?

    First, your child is so lucky to have you as a parent! Gaining professional experience and participating in forums like this to learn more is awesome!

    Every teen’s experience is unique, so finding someone to understand and support their growth will be important. I would advise them to find a qualified therapist if they are interested in therapy. The SLP (Speech Language Pathologist) should have vast experience with teens and approach therapy holistically.

    The other recommendation I would have would be to get involved in the support community. There are teen support groups through the National Stuttering Association and Friends (The National Organization for Young People Who Stutter.) It is important for them to know that they are not alone.
