Biggest Success Stories
Hi! My name is Savanna and I am currently a graduate student in the field of speech language pathology. I was hoping that someone could share some of their biggest success stories as a PWS. I feel like to so many people stuttering can be viewed as something that is negative and constricts many areas of life, so I thought it would be interesting to turn the narrative a little bit and have a space to share some wins. Thank you so much!

What a great question, Savanna! My life has been full of struggles, but also full of succes stories and even funny moments. F ex when I was invited to speak to the European Committee in Brussels. A huuuuge room and a clock ticking, to show my 3 minutes of speaking time. I told them I have the same right of adjustments as f ex the blind and the deaf, as I have the right to say just as many words as a fluent person. I got four minutes. 😉 Or when I was offered a job as a teacher, me, a PWS, with no teaching education, as they saw my skills. And I even became a teacher teaching teachers (IT)! I was handpicked for different jobs, because of my skills. I got a free flight when I missed mine, and they freaked when I stuttered. My quote, Sure I stutter, what are you good at, has gone viral. I’ve been in every TV, radio and magazine in my country, locally and nationally, even internationally. i travelled all corners of the world, because I stutter. People remember me, because I stutter. Interpreters love it when I speak, as I don’t speak fast, so that they can translate every single word I say. I was asked to give autographs to kids in school after talking about stuttering in their class. I have friends all over the world, thanks to my stutter. And the list goes on.
keep them talking
