Around the World 2026 – Poland
The Research Centre for Stuttering and Cluttering – University of Silesia in Katowice and Logopedic Centre Foundation in Katowice will once again host the Polish celebrations of International Stuttering Awareness Day (ISAD). As part of this year’s celebrations, a seminar dedicated to stuttering and communication diversity will be held on 22 October 2026.
This year’s ISAD theme – “Shades of Stuttering – What’s Yours?” – highlights the diversity of experiences associated with stuttering and the fact that there is no single way of experiencing, understanding, or describing it. The seminar programme will also reflect this idea, bringing together different “shades” of knowledge and experience.
The event will feature research presentations and two panel discussions, with the voices of people who stutter and their loved ones taking a central place. The first panel will bring together adults who stutter, while the second will focus on parents of children who stutter.
The seminar will offer an opportunity to explore stuttering from a range of perspectives – those of researchers, practitioners, people who stutter, and parents of children who stutter.
Together, we will consider the different “shades” of stuttering, how knowledge and personal experiences shape the ways in which we talk about, think about, and experience stuttering, and how we can create spaces that support communication diversity.
