Resources for SLPs to Share
Hello all. My name is Maddi Paxton, and I am a speech-language pathology graduate student. My classmates, Megan, Liz, and I are hoping to expand our knowledge on stuttering, prior to graduation and our continued work as clinicians. Through classes and clinical experiences, we have learned about the importance of providing educational resources. With this, we wondered if there are any educational or self-advocacy resources or handouts that might be beneficial for us to share with others (clients, family members, the community, etc.) We have found many podcasts beneficial, such as those on StutterTalk and Proud Stutter. However, we were also wondering if there are other podcasts or discussions that might be helpful for us to share with our clients specifically. We want to help best support our clients and know that resources, in addition to support, are important! Thank you in advance!
Hi Maddiepaxton,
Prof. Erik Raj had a wonderful talk on meaningful digital experiences during this year’s conference “Many voices on Stuttering and Cluttering”. He talked about different sources and how you used them to discuss about different themes. He wrote some articles as well. You might want to look into that.
Other than the ones you mentioned, I was thinking about “Stuttering is Cool”(Franky Banky), “Women who stutter”” (an online community), but also “Juststutter”. She make great pictures that are really good for talking about the different themes that need to be addressed.
I hope this helps.

Hi Maddi! I would also like to add that this website is a wonderful educational resource! Where better to learn about stuttering than from people who stutter and therapists who are dedicated to spreading awareness!
Hi Maddi,
As a therapist who doesn’t stutter, I love to use resources created by people who stutter – so much learning for me, and so much more valuable, relatable and powerful for my clients. Although, not traditionally ‘educational’ perhaps, here is a snapshot of some of my favourites that I share with clients:
Social Media:
– JustStutter (we also have bought some cards for all our speech therapy clinics – I don’t know what I did without them)! Willemijn also has a website and a YouTube channel. Just brilliant!
– The Stutterverse (Stephen Greene, stuttering advocate, affirming stuttering, poetry)
– Stutterology (Ezra Horak: advocate, writer, empowering disabled voices)
-Franky Banky (a stuttering fox)
Books: (some are about embracing differences in general, rather than just stuttering)
– I Talk Like A River (Jordan Scott)
– This is Me (George Webster)
– Giraffe’s Can’t Dance (Giles Andrea)
– It doesn’t matter how you talk (Laura Payne)
– Stuttering is Cool: A guide to stuttering in fast talking world (Daniele Rossi)
– Franky Banky in Tales of Mischief, Mayhem and Mirth (Daniele Rossi)
– Stammering Pride and Prejudice: Difference not Defect (Campbell, Constanino, Simpson)
– Dysfluent Magazine Issue 1, Issue 2: Stammering Pride
Websites:
– Stamma.org (the ‘your voices’ section is great)
– https://actionforstammeringchildren.org/ (stambassadors section – people who stammer in a variety of job roles sharing their experiences of stammering)
Podcasts:
– Stuttering is Cool
– The Franky Banky Podcast
– Around the Block
– Stuttering Foundation Podcast
YouTube:
– Airedale NHS Foundation Trust: I don’t need to be fixed – what I wish the world understood about stammering https://youtu.be/GgMqvvjhxQc?si=Ff4B944YgGoIPhBn
– JustStutter
Enjoy!!!
