Question for a Professional
Hello! My name is Emily and I am looking to major in speech pathology in the future. I was wondering, were there any events or people that have stuck with you throughout your profession? I am curious about the aspect of building relationships in this field.
Hello Emily, thank you for your question. I think within any vocational role there are events or scenarios that stay in the memory. The same goes for certain clients – ones you had an interest in common with or where there was a particular breakthrough moment. For me, events I remember the most (and look forward to in the future) are usually things like conferences, where I meet and talk with people in the stuttering community outside of the therapist/client role. I learn so much from these interactions and that makes me a better clinician, but I also make good friends which is an added bonus and one reason why I so enjoy working within this community!
