ISAD in Australia
In the lead up to the International Stuttering awareness Day in October, we are working with The Australian Stuttering Research Centre to hold forums at Sydney and Macquarie Universities. We will be speaking to final year students who will be primary school teachers next year, some of whom may have students in their class who stutter.
It will explained to the student teachers what stuttering is, what it feels like to be a stutterer and what they can do if they have a student in one of their classes who has a stutter.
The forums will be held at Sydney University on Monday 22nd September and at Macquarie University on Wednesday 22nd October. Both days will commence late morning. Attached is a flyer with details of the Sydney University forum.
Between 4 and 6 Speak Easy members will be required at both venues to answer questions in front of approximately 70 – 100 students.
This will be a great opportunity to practice your speech in front of an audience and to hopefully assist in young stutterers seeking help in the future.
If you are able to attend on the day to be asked questions about your stuttering or to be in the audience to offer support would you please contact Bruce Richmond at bruce.richmond50@gmail.com
