Assessment Process
Hello everyone,
This is my first time participating in the online conference so thank you to everyone for putting it on. I am a first year graduate student studying speech-language pathology, and I am in a fluency course this semester. We have recently learned the different steps during the assessment process, and I am wondering expert’s thoughts about the assessment tools available to SLPs. The SSI-4, the Stuttering Prediction Instrument for young children, and Lidcombe Program’s severity rating scale are three that we have discussed. Do you feel as though these screeners have good specificity and sensitivity? If so, is there anything else that could be improved about the assessment process? From there, could you talk a little bit about transitioning the patient and/or family from assessment to treatment?
