Around the world – Poland
The celebration of ISAD 2025 in Poland will take place on 18 October at the University of Silesia in Katowice, in cooperation with the Logopedic Center Foundation (Fundacja Centrum Logopedyczne) and the Silesian Branch of the Polish Logopedic Society (Oddział Śląski Polskiego Towarzystwa Logopedycznego). The event aims to expand knowledge about stuttering, support people who stutter, and foster collaboration between the academic, therapeutic, and social communities. The program will include presentations on the linguistic image of stuttering in Polish based on research conducted at the University of Silesia, findings on social change and attitudes toward stuttering and cluttering, as well as talks on using the Blank Center CARE Model as an approach that emphasizes communication over fluency. These contributions will provide insights into current research, therapeutic perspectives, and lived experiences, offering valuable knowledge and inspiration for both practice and everyday life. The program will also feature discussion panels – one with adults who stutter and another with parents of children who stutter. In the third part of the event, workshops will be held for children who stutter. These activities will help them learn more about communication and stuttering, while also strengthening their communication skills, self-confidence, self-advocacy, and resilience. The event is open to people who stutter, parents, teachers, speech-language therapists, students, and all those interested in learning more about stuttering and supporting inclusive communication.

We warmly invite you to join us!

I love seeing how Poland is celebrating ISAD this year! I like how you’re working on fostering collaboration between academic, therapeutic, and social communities to support people who stutter and expand people’s knowledge on stuttering. I like how you’re having panels for adults who stutter and parents of children who stutter, which gives a nice perspective! It would be nice if the children would speak as well if they wanted to. I like how you’re providing workshops and activities for children who stutter to help build their communication skills, self-confidence, self-advocacy, and resilience. I’m sure this was an incredible event, and I’d love to hear how it went!
Thanks for all you do to raise awareness in Poland. The more people understand, the more stuttering will be normalised.
