People who stutter often struggle with self-confidence, which then has an impact on how they live in the world.  As a psychotherapist who stutters I have both dealt with my own self-confidence issues and have the pleasure of guiding people in therapy to find their own confidence.   I have witnessed transformation in others and myself.

I have provided psychotherapy to many people who stutter this past year.  I explore topics such as self-esteem, self-confidence, ego and power.  As Eckart Tolle speaks about “self-confidence and valuing yourself,” we learn there are more comfortable ways to live in the world then feeling inferior.  I have guided clients who stutter to become un-stuck from their “thinking mind.”  We explore how comparing ourselves to people who are fluent is problematic.   We look at how most people are flawed, and learning how to be content with ourselves in the present moment.  Counseling allows a person who stutters to deal with all the colorful garbage that we have built around the baseline stuttering.  Most adults who stutter realized that speech therapy is not enough.  We are here to tell you that psychotherapy can allow you to transform and embrace the beauty in yourself and find your true power as a communicator.
