Assessment Question from SLP Grad Student
Hello, my name is Candace and I am a SLP graduate student taking a Fluency disorders class and I was wondering about some favorite standardized assessments (or assessments in general) that are informative, nationally recognized and reliable. Some of the fluency assessments at my university are starting to become “out of print” and would like suggestions about what assessments are still out there and are good. Thanks!
Hi Candace! Great question! I think most are out of print for a reason. In assessment I tend to use as less standardised assessments as possible, since most of them have bias or medical model thinking in it (and with that, you also put that way of thinking in your client). I like the strengths based: CARE assessment. And I think a new one is coming up by Sisskin stuttering center and IOWA state.
