What Makes Stuttering Therapy Feel Meaningful?
For those of you who have participated in speech therapy, what made you feel like your SLP truly understood your experience with stuttering or cluttering rather than just focusing on how your speech sounded? Were there specific things an SLP did, asked, or avoided that helped build trust and made therapy feel more meaningful to you? I am also curious whether your goals in therapy ever differed from what your SLP, parents, teachers, or others thought your goals should be. As a future SLP, I would like to better understand how to make sure therapy reflects what the person actually wants and needs in their everyday life.
