Around the World 2026 – Canada
For International Stuttering Awareness Day 2026, the Canadian Stuttering Association is planning a national awareness campaign focused on raising awareness, reducing stigma, and celebrating the voices and experiences of people who stutter across Canada.
Our theme this year is about creating greater understanding of stuttering and encouraging Canadians to listen, connect, and communicate with people who stutter without judgment or pressure to “speak differently.”
A major part of our campaign will be our “Light Up Canada for Stuttering” initiative on October 22, 2026. We are reaching out to landmarks, municipalities, and prominent buildings across Canada to request that they illuminate in seafoam green, the colour associated with stuttering awareness. This will create a highly visible national display of support for the stuttering community.
We are also working to secure official proclamations and greetings from Canadian municipalities and elected officials, recognizing International Stuttering Awareness Day.
Our activities will be promoted nationally through the Canadian Stuttering Association’s website, newsletter, and social media channels, encouraging people who stutter, families, professionals, allies, and the broader Canadian public to participate and share messages of awareness and acceptance.
Date: October 22, 2026 — International Stuttering Awareness Day
Location: Across Canada, including participating landmarks and municipalities
Time: Illuminations will take place according to the participating venues’ schedules.
We are excited to join stuttering organizations around the world in making International Stuttering Awareness Day 2026 a powerful opportunity to increase understanding, challenge stigma, and ensure that every voice deserves to be heard.”
